Are You Still Hungry?!

Some nights, both Aaron and Norah come to the table absolutely and utterly ravenous.  And then dinner goes a little something like this ...

How Can You Still Be Hungry?

My dear, sweet child,
You ate it all.
With all that you've eaten,
I guess you'll be tall.

We started with burgers,
And moved onto chips,
Threw in a few veggies,
And a couple of dips.

And now you say,
"I'm still hungry"?

Well, you also ...

Had a glass of milk,
The real stuff,
Not the drink called Silk,

Munched a couple berries,
Dug out a handful
Of frozen cherries,

Then a dish of peas,
And a quesadilla
Piled high with cheese,

A bowl of "Life",
With a banana,
Sliced with a knife,

A piece of cold pizza,
The one with the veggies
And a whole lotta meatsa,

A PBJ sandwich,
All this food makes
Makes my right eye twitch,

For dessert, a "log" with "ants",
It's time to buy
You longer pants!

  1. I initially clicked on your post because it had the same title as one I posted yesterday!

Only, mine was about the books in The Hunger Games Trilogy, not the hunger games that our little ones play with us!

    Great poem!

  3. That was great! I had the same thing with my youngest last night. Another taco? And another and another. They do get hungry during those growth spurts.

  5. Ha! I totally know this. I go through it every day and night with my oldest son. I swear he is trying to grow into a giant.

  6. My teenage son and his friends made spaghetti sauce and noodles for their after school snack today. Later, they polished off dinner so we had no leftovers, and later still, ate birthday cupcakes and ice cream. I felt terribly full just watching them eat!

  7. Cute poem! I always know when my kids are truly hungry rather than just wanting to eat - after they've eaten all of their supper and still want more I offer them carrots. If they are really hungry they eat 'em up. ;)
