I listen as Brett reads; the kids cringe, cackle and cower. I've read "The Order of the Phoenix" multiple times, but tonight it's fresh. So is the anxiety, even if I know better.

so much fun to listen when someone is LIVING the story as he reads. :) very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes ... the kids are so enthralled in the story, it's like they are transported for a few minutes to another world. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteIf one reads well, its a pleasure to listen & one becomes immersed in the tone of the story:-)Great job here.
ReplyDeleteLast night there were funny accents and a terrifying duel - I think they kids were exhausted at the end of the chapter! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI really like to have someone read, and feel it myself.
ReplyDeleteIt's a luxury to be read to ... maybe that's why my kids love it so much. An extra gift before bedtime. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteHow fun to hear your kids reactions too! This was so fun to read!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, yes! Last night was the horrible duel between Sirius and Bellatrix - true agony and distress at the end of the chapter! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSIRIUS D8
ReplyDeleteI love this captured family moment! It makes such a nice image (:
Well if you could have seen the kids thrashing around as they listened to the dueling, you would have had an even more entertaining image of their active-listening! :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteNothing like reading a good book and getting the same thrill over and over! It made me miss those days sitting around and having my parents read to me way back when. (:
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorite parts to the day ... snuggled up and reliving stories over and over again. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWhat a wonderful moment. Brilliant memories being made.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. One of my favorite bits of being a mom. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI sometimes listen to my husband reading The Hobbit to my son, just for that very experience.
ReplyDeleteThis was great!
We just finished The Hobbit ... equally entertaining and exciting. I love to hear them groan and moan when we finish a chapter as they long for, "just one more..." Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteReading to my children from the day they were born in such a way that they both have a love of books, stories and being read to......is one of my crowning accomplishments as a parent. Reading aloud is, definitely, my favourite thing to do as a teacher. Harry Potter, btw, is one of the best series of books ever to read aloud. There is such a cadence in J.K. Rowling's writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for capturing the magic of reading to children so magnificently. This story was great!
Thank you ... it is a gift to both the kid and the parent to have this special time together. Most certainly my favorite time of the day, whether it's Lynley Dodd or J.K. Rowling ... always a good time for a cuddle! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteYou brought back such fond memories in this beautiful writing.
ReplyDeleteThank you ... this might be my favorite part of being a mom -- sharing the love of a good story. (And snuggling with me kids in the process!)
DeleteSirius is still going to walk through that blasted curtain.
ReplyDeleteYep ... and I'm still going to hope that he can return somehow. And grieve that Harry loses him again. Thanks for reading.
ReplyDeleteGreat one! I've had the 'put the books down and wipe your sweaty palms' feeling. I get this way with movies sometimes as well!
ReplyDeleteListening in is such a treat!
