Turquoise

In the turquoise glow of the night light I kneel, rubbing her back.

She drifts off.

I creep back to bed, feet tingling, thoughts stirring.  The what if's queue.

Who'll rub my back?

  1. I often have that very same thought! This was so sweet and tender--very comforting.

  3. Another vote of yes! for the "what-ifs queue" phrase. Perfect encapsulation of those late night mental meanderings. And, wow, did this ever bring back memories of coaxing my own daughter back to sleep, many years ago.
