Kellums Enjoy Bible Learning

Here are the songs that we are studying during our family times.  Join us in finding out where in the Bible our favorite "Jesus Songs" have their root.

Tonight's KEBL will be focusing on Jesus as the Light of the world. We will be learning the Biblical basis for the song, "Shine, Jesus, Shine" ... an old favorite from our Campus Crusade of Christ days!  Actually, Ashley requested this song, and I was happy to oblige.  :)  First the lyrics:

Shine Jesus Shine
Chorus 1
Shine Jesus shine
Fill this land
With the Father's glory (Matthew 16:27)
Blaze Spirit blaze
Set our hearts on fire
Flow river flow (Isaiah 41:18, Reveletion 22:1)
Flood the nations
With grace and mercy (2 John 1:3, Hebrews 4:16)
Send forth Your word Lord
And let there be light
Verse 1
Lord the light of Your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness shining (1 John 2:8)
Jesus Light of the world shine upon us (John 8:12)
Set us free by the truth You now bring us (John 8:32)
Shine on me shine on me
Verse 2
Lord I come to Your awesome presence
From the shadows into Your radiance
By the blood I may enter Your brightness (Hebrews 10:19-20)
Search me try me consume all my darkness (Psalm 139:23)
Shine on me shine on me
Verse 3
As we gaze on Your kingly brightness
So our faces display Your likeness (1 Cor. 13:11-13, 1 John 4:17)
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story
Shine on me shine on me

For this evening's family time, we will be going electricity free. :)  I guess you could call it KEBL-Unplugged.  We will be using little flash lights to read our Bibles and our song list and talking about the differences between light and dark.  To drive home the message of "living in Jesus' light" we will be getting our wiggles out by playing a little "Hot/Cold" with a flashlight ... glowing somewhere hidden in the house.  The finder then will get to be the hider ... and hopefully we'll all get the chance to SHINE! :)

January 21, 2011

Last night for KEBL, we talked about one of our favorite songs, "Come, Now is the Time to Worship".  We read a few Bible verses related to the song ... and then had some fun!  Seeing as the song is about "time", we spent the evening timing our kids doing silly, outrageous, and as Aaron put it, "pointless" tasks.  The kids giggled as they ran through the house, completing their tasks and racing the clock and each other.  Ashley chose to be the referee and reported back to us that, "they didn't even cheat!"  Whew!  Lydia participated in a few of the races and then set herself up as an obstacle in others.  Amazingly enough, when we added up the kids' times, they were within 3.7 seconds of each other.  Evenly matched, I'd say!  All in all, it was a fun family time!

Come Now Is The Time To Worship

Chorus 1
Come now is the time to worship
Come now is the time to give your heart
Come just as you are to worship
Come just as you are before your God
Come

Verse 1
One day every tongue
Will confess You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains
For those who gladly choose You now

Here are some of the examples of some of the tasks the kids completed:
Run upstairs and put on your pajama top.
Run upstairs and put your pajama bottoms on your head.  (Wear them the rest of the evening.)
Run upstairs and put a pair of socks on your hands.  (Wear them the rest of the evening.)
Run downstairs and find a play tea cup and put a play piece of food in it.
Empty your tea cup, run upstairs and put three Legos in your cup.
Take your tea cup and run downstairs, jump on the mini-trampoline 4 times and run back upstairs backward.
Run to the kitchen pour yourself 5 oz of milk and drink it.
Run downstairs, find a baby doll and a hat for it to wear.
Run to the laundry room and find a hat to wear on top of your pj bottoms.
Run downstairs and find a dress-up item to wear.
Run upstairs and find a specific book.
Finally ... run around the house and return everything to where you found it.

They got a work out and we got to have a good laugh ... Enjoy!

October 7th
This week we will be putting the song back in order.  I will have the verses cut up and in envelopes.  The kids will have to work together to put the song back together.

Your Grace is Enough
by Chris Tomlin

Great is Your faithfulness oh God (Lamentations 3:22-23)
You wrestle with the sinner's heart
You lead us by still waters and to mercy (Psalm 23:12)
And nothing can keep us apart

So remember Your people (1 Chronicles 16:15, Psalm 105:8, 42)
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Great is Your love and justice God
You use the weak to lead the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27)
You lead us in the song of Your salvation (Psalm 62:6, 118:14, Exodus 15:2)
And all Your people sing along

So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me (x2)

So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Your grace is enough
Heaven reaching down to us (Psalm 18:6, 144:7)
Your grace is enough for me
God i see your grace is enough
I'm covered in your love (1 John 4:10)
Your grace is enough for me
For me
